8 November 2008 Carnarvon Gorge to Chinchilla

Our camp site at Carnarvon Gorge

The site of another plane crash
The storms

Bloody Rain!!!! Had been raining most of the night – we had already decided to leave and were happy that we ended up doing so (there were flash flood and storm warnings for the gorge that day). Got up early to visit the platypus pond – managed to see it just as we were about to leave, then on our way south. Saw a Bustard and flock of Emu’s on our way out, we are getting to see the countryside and the wildlife as we travel, stopped at Roma for some shopping top ups and we were to have lunch, but the storm found us, kept moving and had a quick bread roll and then down it came. Was that bad we thought that we were in a Darwin Storm (except much colder!!!) Decided to take refuge in a cabin at Chinchilla.
