2 November 2008 1770

Why the town is called 1770

This is not a snake!! - Its a Legless Lizard

He really wanted to go closer and I wouldn't let him!!!

On the beach

Another lovely sunset

Decided to stay another night – said a sad farewell to Nikki, Tracey and the boys. Sal and Col went fishing and then played some cards, Mike and Jan went for a walk to Joseph Banks National Park. Interesting walk – to start off with Jan wasn’t really watching where she was going and stepped over what she thought was a snake ...Photo.
It was OK though Mike said that it was actually a legless lizard (still looked like a snake to Jan). We also found a butcher bird with a big insect ...Photo After that we went into Agnes Waters and to the Red Rock Point for a walk along the beach. There is an estate here called Sunrise 1770, where people live right on the beach, but the houses are built in the bush – mostly all you can see is the roof tops in the tree tops and a sign here or there stating that it is private property. We also looked at the Workmans beach campground – this was lovely as it was nowhere near as crowded as the one at 1770.
